Russia has barred a US journalist and former Financial Times Moscow correspondent from the country, apparently at the request of its security services, in one of the first such cases since the cold war.
David Satter had been working in Moscow in recent months as an adviser and journalist for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the broadcaster funded by the US Congress, and had applied to Russia’s foreign ministry for a visa and accreditation.
