A major and tragic road accident occurred on Tuesday at around 8:30am, in Kotayk Province of Armenia.
A car and a passenger van collided on the Yerevan-Sevan motorway.
The accident claimed one life, Hripsime Gasparyan, 18, and injured seven others.
Gasparyan’s brother, Hrant, 20, is in critical condition, and he was taken to capital city Yerevan, Varser village prefect Zaven Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He noted that the youth in the van are Varser residents, and university students. In the morning, they had come to the university from the village, to attend their classes.
Harutyunyan added that the aforesaid van belonged to Varser prefect candidate Husik Sedrakyan, who was providing these students free transportation to Yerevan.
The injured, who are taken to the Hrazdan town medical center, are in good condition, and their injuries are not life-threatening.
Solely Hrant Gasparyan and the van’s driver, Gagik S., 50, were taken to Yerevan for treatment.
