Some 98 people were injured during the protests in Istanbul, held in connection with the death of 15- year-old Elvan Berkin. About 22 of them are police officers, Turkish news agency Anadolu reported on March 14 referring to Istanbul’s police.

Two municipal buildings, 24 ATMs, nine private offices were damaged during the protests.

On March 11, there were the mass protests in 32 Turkish cities in connection with the death of 15-year-old Elvan Berkin. He suffered a head injury during a rally in May last year and died.

The largest protests were observed in Istanbul and Ankara.

Several demonstrators were shooting at the police officers in Istanbul.

It was also reported that some 40 minors involved in the protests were detained.

Mass protests were also held on March 12 during Elvan Berkin’s funeral.

Anti-government protests took place in Turkey for nearly three weeks beginning in late May. Trend informs.
