Vladimir Putin’s schedule this week is filling up, but it still does not include President Obama.
Russia announced Tuesday that its president will meet Friday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in France as both leaders attend 70th anniversary ceremonies for D-Day.
Putin also has previously announced meetings with French President Francois Hollande and British Prime Minister David Cameron, amid tensions over Russia’s incursion into Ukraine.
Obama, who is also attending the D-Day ceremonies as part of his trip this week to Europe, said at a news conference in Poland that he is likely to run into Putin on Friday, but no formal meeting is scheduled.
“I’ve always had a business-like relationship with Mr. Putin,” Obama said.
