This Wednesday, 20th November, the 2012-13 Golden Shoe will be presented to Lionel Messi as the leading goalscorer in the top divisions of European football last season. This is the third time the Argentine has won the award, after the 2009-10 and 2011-12 campaigns.
The prize ceremony will be held at the Antigua Fábrica de Damm — the old Damm beer factory — in Barcelona at 1 p.m. The Golden Shoe is handed out by European Sports Media (ESM), an association of some of the world’s top sports publications, including: A Bola, Fanatik, Elf Voetbal, Kicker, Sport Express, Sport Voetbal, Tipsbladet, Titan Media, Telesport, Frankfurter Allgemeine, World Soccer, Kick Off, sports.163.com, Sportal Korea and MARCA.
