It’s been quite the awards season for Matthew McConaughey.
Having nabbed an Oscar, Golden Globe and Independent Spirit among a host of other actor honors for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club, it looks like the 44-year-old is set to do the same thing on the small screen with True Detective.
On Thursday evening, he won best actor in a drama series for his role as Detective Rust Cohle in HBO’s eight-part cop series at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
But as he was picking up his honour, it was revealed that he probably won’t be returning in the sequel to his 2012 hit stripper movie, Magic Mike.
Gabriel Iglesias, who co-starred in Magic Mike as the strip club’s DJ and drug dealer, broke the news in an interview with Dish Nation posted on Us Weekly’s website.
‘Word has it Matthew is probably not going to be involved in this one,’ he said, adding jokingly, ‘he’s worth a lot of money — that whole Oscar thing, the nerve right,’ a reference to Matthew’s Academy award for Dallas Buyers Club, Daily Mail informs.
