In an interesting interview with Jot Down Magazine, Gerard Piqué spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo‘s reaction after winning the 2013 Ballon d’Or award: “I like the fact that Ronaldo won and cried. It really mattered to him”.
“He had suffered a bit and that’s why he reacted the way he did. He’s known as a tough character, for being superior in both a good and bad way”, Piqué continued.
The centre-back said he likes the Madrid forward, who he knows from his time at Manchester United. “If I always speak well about Cristiano it’s because I like him. People can draw their own conclusions from the gestures and comments, but they don’t know. I must add that he’s changed a bit recently. He helped me a lot when I joined United”, he added.
The Barça defender also spoke about teammate Leo Messi: “I remember that he didn’t mix much with the group and sat alone in the changing room in the first few months. The rest of us had known each other for years and he had just arrived, not just from another country, but from another continent. He barely spoke. He’s was really shy and it took him a while”, Piqué said.
