We know almost everything about the Armenian Genocide. We all know the pain and torment Armenians underwent under Turkish rule. There are hundreds of publications today, which present the Turkish society as a nation-killer, however, we must note that there were people, who had saved Armenian families during those years. Surely, this fact does not soften the crime committed by turks against the Armenian nation.
It is no secret that kurds have also had active participation in the Armenian Genocide, who were members of “Hamide” group. They had killed and robbed Armenian villages. Descendants of those very kurds live in those very villages now. Why don’t we remember what kirds have done and why aren’t they equally guilty?
Araratnews.am had an interview with orientalist Vardan Voskanyan.
He believes that we should not call the entire Turkish nation a slaughterer, as there were many turks who did not take part in it.
“I don’t think we should call the entire nation a slaughterer. The Ottoman Empire committed the Armenian Genocide and our demands are from the country. Kurds have participated in the massacre and that’s beyond any doubt. Kurds were a weapon in Turkish hands, who have realized their plan. This was the policy of the Ottoman Empire: Demolishing one nation with the hand of another nation”, said Vardan Vosyanyan.
“Kurds do not have any joint construction, which could represent their people and do not have a statehood and so in this case, it’s impossible to demand something from them”, said Voskanyan and added that kurds should know that the land they live in now once belonged to Armenians, who were murdered by their own ancestors.
