Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman brushed off poor reviews of her latest movie as she arrived for the opening gala of the 67th Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday evening.
The 46-year-old, who’s film Grace Of Monaco was opening the festival, looked sensational wearing a blue Armani gown which featured incredible intricate jeweling which caught the light as she strolled along the red carpet.
Her entrance proved exactly why, elegance-wise at least, she had been hand picked to take on the role of undoubtedly one of the most elegant and beautiful women of all time — Grace Kelly.
Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye on the red carpet Nicole revealed: ‘It’s a princess dress with a twist.’ And indicating to her decolletage, she joked: ‘And it plunges a bit, right.’
The actress revealed she turned down the chance to wear a five million dollar diamond necklace created by Cartier. It was a replica of a three strand diamond and platinum piece given as a present to Princess Grace by Prince Rainier in 1956.
Nicole wears the necklace in the film and had hoped to wear it for the premiere but it did not match the dress she eventually chose to wear. So instead she chose to wear gems by Harry Winston.
She said that she spent ‘some time’ trying to decide what to wear. ‘There were three gowns and I picked the Armani ‘, she told the Mail.
