Fernando Torres will miss Chelsea’s next two games, Jose Mourinho confirmed today.
The £50million striker was the significant absence from today’s training session at Cobham ahead of the Blues’ Champions League clash with Schalke.
The Mirror revealed that Torres had limped out of training yesterday and Mourinho reported his thigh muscle problem was more serious than hoped.
Mourinho, who also reported Ryan Bertrand has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game, said: ”Fernando is out. Bertrand is injured, just today in training, so I cannot say how bad but he is out of selection too.
”Fernando has a muscular injury. We don’t know the dimension but we await the scans tomorrow. But for tomorrow he is out and out for the weekend too.
”After that comes an international break. Let’s see if he can recover after that.”
That means a chance for Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba, with Mourinho adding: ”Samuel and Demba want to play and they are waiting for opportunities to play.
