A section of the Eiffel Tower’s original spiral staircase has gone under the hammer in Paris.
The 3.5 m. long piece went for 220,000 euros to a Portuguese buyer.
Back in 1989 when lifts replaced the tower’s stairs the redundant steps were divided up and removed.
One of those portions is now to be found next to the Statue of Liberty in New York, euronews informs.
