The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Pakistan reported that the death toll in Pakistan earthquake has exceeded 400, about 200 000 people have been affected, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Dashgin Shikarov told APA.
He said that according to the researches conducted by the Embassy there are no Azerbaijanis among the earthquake-affected people and Azerbaijan is the first country to offer assistance to Pakistan: “Following Azerbaijan, China, Iran, Turkey and the United Kingdom offered aid to Pakistan. Currently, Pakistan is eliminating the consequences of the earthquake with its own internal resources. If needed, Pakistan will receive the assistance from Azerbaijan.”
7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Baluchistan, a huge earthquake-prone province of deserts and rugged mountains, and was felt across South Asia. It destroyed houses and cut communications with the worst affected district of Awaran.
The Pakistani government has deployed servicemen on the disaster zone to help the people.
