He has been nominated for two BAFTAs and three Academy Awards in the past.

But this year could be Leonardo DiCaprio’s year, as it was announced on Wednesday morning that he has been nominated for a Best Actor for his role as Jordan Belfort in The Wolf Of Wall Street.

The global superstar immediately followed up the news of his nomination, by saying: ‘I am truly honored to be nominated today by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. 

‘These nominations reflect the determination of an extraordinary cast, crew and of course the great Marty Scorsese.’

The Wolf Of Wall Street has also been nominated for Best Director in the form of the legendary film veteran Martin Scorsese.

The Italian-American producer and director helped Leo win a Golden Globe for Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture in 2005.

And it could be argued that Leo has taken the place of Scorsese’s muse from Robert De Niro — who worked together in a number of iconic films including Taxi Driver and Mean Streets in the 70s , 80s and 90s. 

The pair have also worked together on Shutter Island 2010 and Gangs Of New York in 2002 which  earned him an MTV Movie Award.

The Wolf of Wall Street is also in the running to win Best Adapted Screenplay at the BAFTAs, totaling the number of nominations to three.

The film is based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stockbroker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government, Daily Mail informs.
