Brittany Murphy’s father has accused the late actress’ mother of selling her personal belongings on auction sites for personal profit, it emerged today.
It is the latest in the tit-for-tat between the star’s warring parents which all started when her father Angelo Bertolotti claimed she and her husband Simon Monjack were poisoned to death.
He has now alleged that her mother Sharon Murphy used the entertainment memorabilia website Julien’s Auctions to sell private items of Brittany’s — even her passport — and he tried to stop it.
He told RadarOnline: ‘[Sharon] joined into Julien’s Auctions and in April all of Britt’s things were sold to the highest bidder. Then re-sold on eBay.’
Bertolotti provided a document to the gossip website dated April 3, 2013, in which he attempted a Cease and Desist against the Beverly Hills auction site to prevent them from selling Brittany’s belongings.
‘This communication serves as a formal legal “Cease and Desist” demand effective immediately regarding the sales and exploitation of Brittany Murphy aka Brittany Bertolotti, Brittany Murphy’s property, memorabilia, intellectual, public, private property or her likeness in any capacity,’ the letter reads.
The online auction went ahead anyway and many of the items now appear stamped with ‘Sale has ended’ with the winning bids.
A floral nude dress she wore in the 2003 movie Uptown Girl sold for $1,920 while another tutu-inspired dress from the same movie reached $520.
A denim outfit Brittany wore to the 2002 MTV VMA’s. Shoes, jewelry and even her passport, which was sold for $620, were auctioned off.
Sharon Murphy was last week forced to hit out at claims her daughter and son-in-law were poisoned to death, calling them ‘madness and lies’.
This was after Bertolotti had samples of his daughter’s blood and hair tested by an independent lab that reported ‘heavy metals and toxins’ found, implying she was poisoned.
Her 61-year-old mother, who was living with Brittany and Simon in their Hollywood Hills home at the time of their deaths, told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘I have chosen to stay out of the limelight since the tragic and sudden death of my wonderful, talented, loving daughter.
‘I have no choice now but to come forward in the face of inexcusable efforts to smear my daughter’s memory by a man who may be her biological father, but was never a real father to her in her lifetime.’
