Britney Spears says making new music helped her through her split with Jason Trawick.
The 31-year-old pop star will release her eighth studio album — the follow up to 2011’s Femme Fatale — this year, and she said working on the record has felt like ‘therapy’.
Speaking to radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Friday, she said: ‘It’s the most personal album I’ve ever done.
‘After having a huge breakup this year, I had a lot to say in the studio, so it was nice to have a therapy like that and to be able to share that with my fans.’
The Hold It Against Me hitmaker insisted while it was an emotional process, it helped her ‘get over’ their split and the more personal songs are her ‘best stuff’.
She added: ‘The stuff that really comes from the heart is usually the best stuff and has the best beat and really kind of helps you get over the breakup really easy, cause you sing about it and have to think about it every night.
‘But then you’re like, “It’s okay! I’m performing now so it’s totally fine.” It’s like a therapeutic way to get over it.’
Meanwhile, the pop star is said to be worth more than $44 million after making nearly $14 million on the stock market last year.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline, Britney has amassed a number of assets, including property and cash.
