Turkey believes that Azerbaijan’s occupied territories will be recovered, said Turkish President Abdullah Gul, underlining the importance of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity in a joint press conference held with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev in Ankara on Tuesday. “Turkey gives utmost importance to Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity” Gul added.
Gul noted that presidents took up regional issues and bilateral relations, stressing the importance of gas, energy and transportation issues. Gul underlined that investments in both countries are crucial for bilateral relations.
Gul congratulated his counterpart since Aliyev won the election on 9th of October and became the president 3rd time. Gul emphasized that he first visited Aliyev after being elected as president of Turkey and stressed that Aliyev did the same.
“In the last 6 years, this is the 7th meeting of Turkish and Azeri presidents” said Gul, noting fraternity between two societies. He also added that 3rd meeting of Turkey-Azerbaijan High Level Strategic Cooperation will be held by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish Prime Minister and Ilham Aliyev as co-chairs.
Azeri president was also decorated with a state medal by Gul. Turkish president underlined that the state medal is a sign of fraternity between two countries.
Aliyev said his country is getting stronger as with the help of Turkey.
Azerbaijan President also underlined on the Karabakh issue he expected serious steps will be taken in a few months.
The two presidents in the morning exchanged honoring state medals during the ceremony. While Gul presented Aliyev with Turkish state medal, he received a Heydar Aliyev medal from his counterpart.
