US-based video hosting YouTube has filed a suit with the Constitutional Court of Turkey on Monday seeking for complete unblock of its resource on the country’s territory. Local TV reports that the company turned to the court through a Turkish lawyer, Genenc Gurkainak that earlier provided legal services to the leadership of Twitter.

In the lawsuit, the attorney asks the constitutional Court to establish whether the full blocking of access to YouTube violates the civil rights of the country’s population. Experts believe that the court may comply with the company’s suit due to a similar precedent. April 2, the Constitutional Court ruled that restricting access to Twitter microblogging service violated the civil rights, and the ban was lifted within a day.

April 4, the magistrate court of the capital’s Gelbashi district reconsidered its initial ruling towards the blocking of YouTube that was initiated March 27, instructing the controlling agencies to stop the complete blocking of access to the service and to leave blocked only 15 files that were subject to other court rulings. These files that became the reason for preventive ban of YouTube, according to local authorities, contain recordings of a secret session of the Turkish leadership on the situation in Syria and discussions on the possible introduction of troops to that country, Itar Tass informs.
