Upon hospitalization chances of 19-year-old Roland Sahakyan, Armenian soldier wounded in Karabakh, were small. Trying to prepare the parents for the worst, the specialists gave him 10 percent chances at most.
But Roland, who sustained various shrapnel wounds during the four-day war, is slowly recovering.
During the two months in hospital, Roland underwent six operations on both lungs, gall bladder, liver, duodenum and spine, Ronald’s father, Kajik Sahakyan, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.
Roland’s condition remains critical now, but the relatives are sure that the doctors managed to literally save his life. According to the soldier’s father, both the doctors and nurses treat Roland as their own son and are doing their best for him.
Today Roland can eat “real” food on his own, without a “pipe”. Of course, currently he has still got high temperature and bed sores. His hands work normally; the spine injury has not affected them. However, whether he will be able to walk is still unknown.
