Meeting between Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev is to take place today in Vienna. Araratnews.am made a contact with political scientist Tatul Hakobyan, who noted: “The meeting that is to take place today is very important.
Surely, we understand that both leaders cannot endure social voices, and more specifically, they both have come to power through falsifications, nevertheless, we must understand that these men represent their countries, so in this form, I consider this meeting very important.
This is the first meeting after the one in Kazan, when the mediation of Dmitry Medveden ended. This meeting is important, as when diplomats, presidents, ministers of Foreign Affairs do not negotiate, snipers shoot instead, killing young Armenians and azeris, bringing tragedy to their homes.
Secondly, when a negotiation process does not take place a long while war rhetoric grows, and we witness odd situations, which have not stopped since 1994 ceasefire.
Basically, first, Armenia-Nakhijevan border, which has always been calm, has recorded a victim from Armenian side, second, it’s been 3 weeks that the main road of Yeravan-Tbilisi or Ijevan-Noyemberyan is closed, as Azerbaijan’s snipers keep firing. Third, Azerbaijani side keeps firing at the direction of Berd”, said Tatul Hakobyan.
He also believes that all these happen, because meetings do not take place. Tatul Hakobyan also noted that we should not be expecting anything major from this meeting.
