Manchester United are keeping tabs on Sami Khedira as manager David Moyes considers how to bolster his midfield in January.
Real Madrid’s Khedira revealed United failed at the end of the summer transfer window with a late bid to sign him, which was thought to be worth €40 million.
And Moyes sent Phil Neville, one of his coaching staff, to watch Khedira in Real Madrid’s 7-3 win over Sevilla on Wednesday.
United also tried to bring in Real’s Fabio Coentrao on loan in September and the left-back did not feature in the midweek match at the Bernabeu.
Khedira, 26, was a regular in the Real team in October but said last month that the club had treated him unfairly.
He told Kicker: “I’m not a Spanish player, I did not cost a lot of money and I am one of [former manager Jose] Mourinho’s disciples.
