Their deaths shocked Hollywood but Paul Walker and Philip Seymour Hoffman were remembered by their peers at the Academy Awards on Sunday.
Paul, 40, star of the Fast And Furious franchise, tragically died in a fiery crash in November when the Porsche he was travelling in lost control in Santa Clarita, California while Philip, 46, passed away following an overdose of drugs including cocaine and heroin just last month.
And they were two of the actors who the Academy paid tribute to in the sombre In Memoriam section of the otherwise lighthearted ceremony at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.
Philip was the final actor mentioned in the segment which was followed by a stunning performance from Bette Midler.
James Gandolfini, 51, died of a heart attack while in Italy with his teenage son in June.
The Sopranos actor is best known for his role as Tony Soprano in HBO’s The Sopranos.
He had many close friends in the industry including Brad Pitt and George Clooney and his funeral was attended by many Hollywood devastated pals.
Legendary Galway actor Peter O’Toole, star of Lawrence of Arabia, was among those included.
The former hellraiser passed away at the age of 81 in London.
Child star Shirley Temple, who died at the age of 81 last month, was honoured as was Harry Potter actor Richard Griffiths, 65.
And there was a special tribute to Roger Ebert, the 70-year-old film critic, who died after a long battle with cancer, last year, Daily Mail informs.
