Actor Vardan Petrosyan had spent the New Year day with inmates at prison hospital. Lawyer of the actor Nikolay Baghdasaryan told Araratnews.am.
Vardan Petrosyan has been arrested after a car crush that took place on October 20th, causing death of 2 teenagers. His detention has been prolonged for 2 more months.
Today at 16:00 a court session is to take place, where they will dispute the actor’s arrest and the justification of the prosecutor, according to which Vardan Petrosyan tried to hide from bodies realising proceedings.
“We have studied the custody extension motion of the prosecutor and the decision of First Instinct Court of Kotayq region and have uncovered that both are justifying likewise, i.e. both the motion and the court decision contain exactly same spelling errors”, said Nikolay Baghdasaryan.
He states that the judge had received the motion in electronic format and “copy-pasted” it in his decision.
“This is a rough law violation, meaning that prolonging the detention has been decided before the trial”, said Baghdasaryan.
“There is no defense in this country. This is a vicious phenomenon. Such cases had taken place before as well, when the prosecutor and the judge meet and make decisions without the lawyer and the suspect, i.e. fate is resolved outside the court, which leads to serious affects”, said he.
