Buckingham Palace is hiring for a new household assistant to be based in London.
According to the job description, which appears on the British monarchy’s official website, the role is a domestic position and the successful candidate will be “specifically responsible for the care of guests and maintaining the cleanliness, presentation, and general upkeep of all accommodation.”
Duties include “the cleaning and presentation of accommodation; the care of antiques and specialist cleaning, personally caring for guests and front-of-house duties at receptions and other events.”
“Internally the post holder will have contact with Members of the Royal Family, guests and all levels of Royal Household staff,” reads the advertisement. “Externally, the post-holder will have contact with members of the public.”
Food and accommodation is included in the 40-hour-a-week post and the salary is listed as £14,400 per annum.
While the job is primarily based in Buckingham Palace, the new employee will be required to travel the other royal residences and “must be willing to work away from London for approximately 3 months of the year.”
