Nonna Nicole Hovsepyan, living in USA, is well known for her charities. She had helped many Armenian families in need, invested and supported many charity projects. And the time came to support abandoned children. “Kind mom” NGO has been created, which supports Leo as well.
Would you tell us how you found out about Leo and does he need help now?
I can’t say how I found out about him, but it was before the fuss. Our volunteers visited the baby, brought clothes, pads and helped in bathing and taking care of him. Samuel was all alone and needed help. The number of supporters has grown, but the help of “Kind mom” is still needed. We continue helping the baby’s father and the saddest part is that the baby needs mother’s love.
We became close to Samuel Forest and we have plans in supporting abandoned children. There are many problems in Armenia concerning that issue, but we can’t blame the country. People like you and me live there. The change must start from us. A person can do everything and Samuel is a good example for that.
You are one of the founders of “Kind mom” NGO. How did you come up with that idea?
“Kind mom” was founded few months ago, when the internet was blown by Raffael’s, “a baby without limbs”, story. That time we, a number of moms, realized that Armenia needs an organization, that will take care of abandoned children. By the way, it is wrong to say “without limbs”. The baby doesn’t have legs and feet.
So, what is “Kind mom” and what are the aims?
It is a net of mothers living in different parts of the world. We have several targets. However, the main purpose is to give warmness to children. We help children born with problems and those, who are abandoned in hospitals and kindergartens. When everyone abandoned you, it is important to know that you are not alone and there is someone willing to help you. Besides, we help the parents, who have children and live in poor conditions.
Who’s financing “Kind mom”?
It might me unbelievable, but we don’t have a financial source. We buy everything the children need with our own money. We all are mothers and we care. We have members, who send the money of their children’s pads to us. In one word, our mothers are kind…
How many children do you have under your patronage?
The number of children grows, unfortunately. We support with providing necessary items. But we also support children in the orphanages, we visit them and try to make their days interesting. We do everything we can and even more.
What’s your biggest dream concerning “Kind mom”?
I want every child to have a family. And may a day come when “Kind mom” is not needed anymore.
