Meryl Streep has received her 18th Oscar nomination — an Academy record — as Best Actress for her role in August: Osage County.
The other nominees announced Thursday morning are: Sandra Bullock for Gravity, Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine, Judi Dench for Philomena and Amy Adams for American Hustle.
The 86th annual Academy Award nominations were announced from Beverly Hills, California by Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs and Thor actor Chris Hemsworth.
Her nomination as the pill-popping foul-mouthed matriarch in the film adaptation of Tracy Lett’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play is her fifteenth Best Actress nod, along with three for Best Supporting Actress, Daily Mail informs.
The 64-year-old is the most nominated movie star in Academy history, with Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson trailing behind with twelve nominations each.
The film veteran has won three Oscars, for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Kramer vs. Kramer (1979), and Best Actress for Sophie’s Choice (1982) and Iron Lady (2011).
