Around two and a half million people descended today on the town of Luján, Buenos Aires, after participating in the 39th Young Person’s Pilgrimage, marking an historic record for the important celebration of the Catholic faith.
A huge crowd of believers were present outside the Luján Basilica, having left from the City neighborhood of Liniers on Saturday to make the pilgrimage of around 60km.
Pilgrims were greeted with a message from Pope Francis, who sent his blessings through Buenos Aires Archbishop Mario Aurelio Poli.
“You cannot negotiate or give way with faith,” the clergyman stated while addressing the masses, estimated by news sources to number over two million, Buenos Aires Herald informs.
