In the southern Italian city of Salerno, a 52-year-old man was arrested after tricking a barista into giving him free coffee, croissants and soft drinks for days–because he pretended to be an “affiliate.”
For us civilians, that means Ubaldo Citarella was suggesting he was a chieftain of the De Feo clan, an organized crime syndicate, Il Mattino reports.
According to the swindled barista, Citarella “boasted for days” about his connected lifestyle. As a result the barman offered free food and drinks all week. Eventually, the barkeep told the local authorities, who had never heard of this Citarella, who, in a moment of desperation, left a container of gasoline outside the bar as a threat.Free croissants or you die. Makes sense.
Citarella was arrested.
