“This situation is the consequence of the collapse of the negotiation process. Azerbaijan was conservatively heading towards that path and neither mediators nor the major states engaged in regional security, who possessed the tool to produce an impact, failed to exert influence, prevent such process of the situation”, Politician Hrant Melik-Shahnazryan said in an interview with araratnews.am.
The politician also pointed out, “Say that the Minsk Group cannot make any efficient step, I guess it is not so and the Minsk Group could not have acted like that even when the conflict was under the control. They do not have appropriate tools for supressing Azerbaijan. During these years they attempted only to be a platform which will enable to arrange the meeting of the leaders of the two countries and nothing more”.
According to Melik-Shahnazaryan, in the course of the negotiation the Armenian side ought to rest upon the two important truths. “Firstly, the military campaign of Azerbaijan has collapsed. Azerbaijan was defeated and thus we had one more “small” victory ”. Secondly, one should realize about the abilities of Azerbaijan and not only Azerbaijan, but also those sides who to the extent possible supported the Aliev administrative staff so as to launch such actions. Today Azerbaijan lacks any great opportunities in terms of resolution of issues.
The fact is that at the political level, every case of ceasefire violation by Azerbaijan today ought to be made a serious tool for supressing the Azerbaijanians, condemning them.
The politician indicated that new developments of the situation are yet to come in relation to the economic crisis of Azerbaijan, “It is real to have such expectations, because Azerbaijan has other important issues and at this stage it showed its weakness, as though it is a winner and now the principal goal of Aliev is to establish his victory. And he was a failure on the battlefield, then he is attempting to do that in a political manner. If he fails to do so this time, then he will keep on seeking success on the battlefield. At this point he fails to resolve this issue at a political level, hence one needs to expect possible expectations of the incident.”
