Erdogan’s condolence address to Armenians came as surprise for everyone; however it is a new mean of the denial policy.
Political scientist Hrant Meliq-Shahnazaryan said today during the press conference that there are some hidden ideas in Erdogan’s speech, which Turkey will use towards the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
“With this announcement Erdogan tried to connect the Genocide with the WWI, as if the tragedy fell upon all nations. It is a trap, as it had started earlier and that policy had been adopted in order to demolish the Armenian nation from the face of the Earth”, said he.
The second hidden idea in the announcement was that not only Armenians suffer from pain, but turks as well.
“Hence, he tried to show as if there was no deliberate massacre of the Armenians, and it is a part of the denial policy. He individualized the tragedy against certain people, noting that it is a tragedy for some people. Turkey tries to make shore that it takes the Genocide subject to a more lucrative path by making an announcement a day prior to the Genocide commemoration day”, said Hrant Meliq-Shahnazaryan.
