Black Sabbath to record new album and tour one more time

Black Sabbath, uncowed by guitarist Tony Iommi’s cancer and by rumour their gig this past summer in Hyde Park would be their last, are to reunite for one last album and tour, singer Ozzy Osbourne has told Metal Hammer.

“The whole Sabbath experience this time around was great,” Osbourne said. “We all made friends, we didn’t fuck around, we all knew that we had a job to do, and we did it. It was a lot of fun. So we’re going to do one more album, and a final tour.

He said the ageing of the band had placed a certain time pressure on making a decision about whether to regroup. “I said, ‘Sharon [his wife and manager], I ain’t fucking 21 anymore. If we’re going to do [it], I want to do it before I’m 70. Time isn’t on our side.’ So she made the call and came back and said, ‘Yeah, the record company wants another album.’ I believe Rick Rubin is going to do it with us again.”

No new material has been written yet, but Osbourne said sessions would probably get underway in 2015, and that although no location for writing and recording had been decided, “I’ll fly to the fucking moon for it if I have to!”
