Ankara To Become Europe’s Transportation Centre

Ankara will become a transportation centre for all of Europe, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said after the opening of a new metro line in Ankara, Turkish TRT Haber channel reported on Feb. 12.

“Currently, everything possible is being done to make Ankara become the transport hub for all of Europe,” he said.

“Economic development is a priority for Turkey,” he said. “The government will do everything possible for the growth of the country’s economy.”

A new subway line was commissioned in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Feb. 12.

Turkish President Abdulla Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other officials attended the opening of the Batikent-Sincan new subway line.

There will be free passage during a week.

The length of the new line in Ankara is 15.5 kilometres. Its construction began in February 2012 and the new line has connected 11 stations.
