YEREVAN. – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Friday visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia (PHOTOS).

He was accompanied by Edward Nalbandian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

The Russian FM laid a wreath at the monument to the innocent victims of the first genocide of the 20th century, and placed flowers near the Eternal Flame in memory of these victims.

Also, Sergei Lavrov toured the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and signed its honorary guestbook, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from on location.

“Thank you to everyone who keeps this memory alive and does everything so that the tragedy of the Armenian people is not forgotten,” the Russian FM wrote in the guestbook. “We need to make sure that such things never recur.”

At the end of his visit, Sergei Lavrov watered the fir he had planted years ago.
