Philip Seymour Hoffman’s last wish for his son was that he grow up in New York, Chicago or San Francisco, according to the late actor’s will.

Hoffman, who died of a heroin overdose earlier this month, left his entire estate to “friend and companion” Mimi O’Donnell, who is the mother of his three children, according to the document released by the Manhattan Surrogate’s Court Wednesday.

It was signed by Hoffman in October 2004, when his son, Cooper, now 10, was just a year old and before daughters Tallulah and Willa were born.

“It is my strong desire, and not direction to my guardian, that my son, Cooper Hoffman be raised and reside in or near the borough of Manhattan in the State of New York, or Chicago Illinois, or San Francisco, California,” Hoffman stated in the 13-page will.

That provision was in a section that applied only if O’Donnell was not living at the time of his death and if a guardian was to be appointed for his children.

If living in his preferred three cities was not possible, Hoffman requested that his son at least visit there twice a year.

“The purpose of this request is so that my son will be exposed to the culture, arts and architecture that such cities offer,” Hoffman’s will said, CNN informs.

A longtime jazz musician who was busted for heroin possession in the wake of the apparent fatal overdose of Philip Seymour Hoffman was granted bail Friday.

Robert Vineberg, 57, who was once on tour with Wyclef Jean and played on an Amy Winehouse album, sat glumly in Manhattan Supreme Court as a judge gave him a bail of $200,000 bond or $40,000 cash.

His attorney, Edward Kratt, pleaded for lower bail, calling Vineberg an “accomplished musician” who has “been in the business since the late 1980s and has been associated with some really great musicians.”

He said he’s a “heroin addict and has been a consistent user of heroin for a long period of time.”

Philip Seymour Hoffman, one of the leading actors of his generation and winner of an Academy Award for his title role in the film “Capote,” was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Sunday in what a New York police source described as an apparent drug overdose.

Hoffman, 46, was discovered unresponsive on the bathroom floor of his Greenwich Village apartment by police responding to a 911 call, and Emergency Medical Service workers declared him dead at the scene, New York City police said in a statement. An investigation was under way.

A police spokesman said investigators found Hoffman with a syringe in his arm and recovered two small plastic bags in the apartment containing a substance suspected of being heroin. A police department source earlier told Reuters that Hoffman had died of an apparent drug overdose, Reuters informs.
